Een ode aan verval (2016)
I have always had a fascination for Italian neorealism. This cinema genre shows the everyday life and often takes place in poor environments. This inspired me to make a collection, I wanted to show the beauty of the everyday life which is not always pretty but has its own elegance. My love for black and white movies is visible in my own dyed fabrics.
By intentionally damaging the textiles in a subtle and thoughtful way I want to evoke appreciation for imperfections.
With this collection I want to show that clothing can still be desirable when it is showing signs of decay. This is a tribute to frays, holes, faded textiles and damaged clothes.
